Viewing and editing service details
Manage a service’s general details, standard document values, and status, or create a copy.
Updated on August 27, 2026
The service record brings together the identification details and standard document values for one service. You can edit the fields directly, copy, archive, unarchive, or delete the service. You need access to the active administration and an active Billnado licence.
An archived service is identified by Archived next to its name. The record and information remain available.
Basic information
| Field | Meaning and rules |
|---|---|
| Name | The recognisable service name Billnado uses in selections and documents. |
| Sku | The internal item code. An SKU cannot contain spaces. |
| Category | The item category used to group and find services. |
| Description | Detailed information about the service in formatted text. The setting under Documents determines whether Billnado copies this text to new documents. |
Documents
| Field or setting | Meaning and rules |
|---|---|
| Standard selling price | The selling price Billnado proposes when you add the service to a document. The price cannot be negative. |
| Standard unit | The usual unit for the service, such as hour, day, or job. |
| Import 'description' in documents | Copies the saved service description when you use the service on a document. |
The proposed values make new documents quicker to complete. You can still change them there when the document workflow permits it.
System information
Creation date shows when the service was created. Last update shows the time of the most recent saved change, archive, or unarchive action. Both values are read-only.
Saving changes
As soon as you change a field, Cancel and Save replace the other actions at the bottom.
| Action | Result |
|---|---|
| Cancel | Discards the changes and restores the last saved service information. |
| Save | Saves all changes to the service record. |
Copying, archiving, and deleting
These actions are available when the record has no unsaved changes.
| Action | Availability and result |
|---|---|
| Options > Copy | Immediately creates a new active service and opens its record. The name and SKU receive a copy marker; the standard unit and selling price are copied. Category, description, and the setting for copying the description are not copied. |
| Archive | Makes an active service inactive while keeping its record and information. |
| Unarchive | Makes an archived service active again. |
| Delete | Opens a double confirmation and then permanently deletes the service. This action is also available for an active service on the details page. |
Important: deletion cannot be undone. Use Archive when you want to keep the service information.
Frequently asked questions
Why can I not see the copy, archive, or delete actions?
When there are unsaved changes, Billnado only shows Cancel and Save. Save or cancel your changes first.
Which information does a copied service contain?
The copy contains the name and SKU with a copy marker, plus the standard unit and selling price. Check the new record and complete the category, description, and document setting again where needed.
Why does an archived service not appear in selections or the default list?
Archiving makes the service inactive. Choose Unarchive on the record to make it available again.
